We love how they made small improvements to the model where needed and kept the good features intact. The result? A scooter that still has that signature Xiaomi feel but now delivers much better performance. 

Weighing in at just 29 lbs, the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 is on the smaller and lighter side, making it incredibly portable. It boasts an impressive range of 30 km and reaches a respectable 25 km/hr top speed. This makes the scooter particularly for anyone who needs a scooter they can easily carry onto a subway or bus.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 series includes two models– the Lite and the Standard. Among these, the Lite is the most beginner-friendly option. While it shares the same speed and motor power as the Standard model, its maximum range is lower at 20 km, compared to the Standard’s impressive 30 km. Additionally, the Lite can tackle slopes of up to 14%, while the Standard can handle inclines of 16%. On top of that, the Lite has a lower water resistance rating of IPX4, whereas the Standard boasts a much better IP54 rating that makes it more durable.

You can also check out the GoTrax XR Elite for scooters in the same price range. Its specs are comparable to the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 as it features a top speed of 25 km/h and 8.5-inch tires, with a range of approximately 30 km. However, it doesn’t quite match the stylish design of the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3.

The Xiaomi Mi 3 is a fantastic little scooter that has all the essential features while being compact and light enough to carry anywhere. We love how sturdy and well-made it feels as it’s made of aerospace quality aluminum.

For a scooter that’s budget-friendly, we found it to be one of the best options out there. You could pay more for extra speed, but that also means more weight, which makes carrying your scooter a bit harder.

The Mi 3 is a foldable electric scooter from Xiaomi, the renowned Chinese tech brand. It’s designed to be simple and straightforward and offers a 30 km (18 mile) range and a 25 km/h (16 mph) top speed. Plus, it comes with front and rear lights, E-ABS brakes, pneumatic tyres, and a phone app (Mi Home app).

So, we highly recommend getting your hands on this e-scooter if you’re in need of a ride that’s portable and offers great value for money. 

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 boasts the same 300W motor found in the Mi Pro 2 and offers a 600W maximum power. We love that even though this isn’t a Pro model, it’s still better than earlier versions that used a weaker 250W motor. Thanks to this powerful motor, the scooter can reach a top speed of 25 km/h and climb slopes with up to a 16% incline.

The battery, at 7650mAh, may not be the largest out there, but we found it to be impressive, with a range of 30 km (18.64 miles). Plus, Xiaomi has included a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) in the scooter that helps recharge the battery when you coast or brake, which plays a huge role in maximising the range. 

For most commutes, this range is more than enough, and with a charge time of just 5.5 hours, you can easily charge it at work or once you’re home in the evenings. The battery lifespan is listed at 500 cycles int the specs section which means that even if you charge it twice a week, it could last nearly five years.

Lastly, the scooter also has a smart feature where, if the battery level drops below 30% and the scooter hasn’t been used for about ten days, it enters sleep mode to protect the battery. Combine this with the 5th Generation Intelligent Battery Management System (BMS), and you’ve got a battery that’s designed for durability!

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3’s dual braking system combines an e-ABS electric brake with a disc brake, so you have top efficient braking. We especially like the rear dual-pad disc brake as it’s designed to provide extra stability and a quicker response. This system also helps prolong the life of the brake pads, making your rides not only smoother but safer too.

Unlike most budget friendly scooters that offer poor handing, this scooter is great at handing as it has a stable, wobble-free handlebar. The deck is also large as its 5.5 inches (140mm) wide and it provides just the perfect amount of space for most riders.

However, one downside is that the scooter doesn’t have a suspension. On uneven surfaces, it’s a bit rough since the pneumatic tyres can only cushion so much. The tyres are also smaller compared to models like the Coozy, or the Niu KQi3 so you do feel the bumps on rough roads. But, if you stick to well-paved roads, your rides are going to be extremely comfortable. 

One big plus of the Mi 3 is the pneumatic tyres. Although the wheels are only 8.5 inches, we love how the air-filled tyres, complete with inner tubes, offer a much smoother ride than larger solid or run-flat tyres. 

At just 29 lbs (13.2 kg), the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 is noticeably lighter than many other scooters, including the Mi Pro 2, which weighs 31.3 lbs. This weight reduction is partly due to the smaller battery that makes it easier to carry around with you.

Plus, folding up the scooter is extremely easy as you’ll only need to follow three steps. Start by lifting the main connecting buckle. Then, you’ll need to lift it again a second down and press it down. Lastly, fold the scooter together. 

Once folded, the scooter becomes only 19.2 inches (490mm) tall. Plus, the handlebars also clip neatly onto the hook on the rear wheel arch, ensuring everything stays secure while you’re on the go.

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3’ design is very much like the Scooter Pro 2. It’s just under 44.5 inches long and stands 46.5 inches tall.

The design is very sleek with orange reflectors on the sides of both front and rear wheels. Additionally, there are also bright blue brake lines on the black model, which gives it a stylish touch.

While the brake lines add a pop of colour, it’s a bit disappointing that they stick out from the body instead of running through it. The rear disc brakes are also left quite exposed, likely to save weight, but two thin metal strips help support the wheel arch. These strips can bend under pressure, like when standing on the wheel arch, but they bend back easily enough.

And, finally, the scooter is built with aerospace-grade aluminium, which makes it light, sturdy and durable.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 has a maximum rider-carrying capacity of 220 lbs. So, even if you’re on the heavier side of the scale, this scooter has got your back.

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 has bright front and led rear warning light, making it easy for you to ride in low-light conditions. But, these lights aren’t strong enough to fully illuminate your path in complete darkness, so you should consider adding a headlight to maximise your safety.

The scooter features an LED display on the handlebars that clearly shows important information like your speed, battery level, and drive mode. It also indicates when the headlights are on when you’re connected to your phone via Bluetooth, and when the scooter is locked. Moreover, you can also turn the lights on by quickly pressing the single power button and switch between drive modes with a double press.

You can connect the Mi 3 to Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. This handy app displays your current speed (perfect if you mount your phone on the handlebars), battery level, average speed, and trip odometer. Plus, you can lock the scooter from the app and check your total distance and battery life for added convenience.

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 offers three riding modes:

1. Pedestrian Mode: Limited to 3 mph, this mode adds a bit of power to help you push the scooter without using the accelerator. This feature is super useful when the scooter is turned off, as it minimises resistance from the motor.
2. Standard Drive Mode: This setting lets you ride at up to 12.4 mph. It’s great for keeping your speed manageable.
3. Sport Mode: This mode allows you to reach a maximum speed of 15.5 mph. It’s really fun to ride, especially in built-up areas and on cycle paths.

With an IP54 water and dust rating, this scooter can handle everyday splashes and dust without any issues. However, it’s not meant for extremely wet conditions, so you should avoid using a hose or pressure washer for cleaning, as this could damage the electrical components.
