Kugoo M2 Pro Summary

The Kugoo M2 Pro is a well-rounded budget scooter with plenty of desirable features that make it the obvious choice for frequent commuters needing a cool and efficient ride. A 350 Watt front motor gives it sufficient torque to conquer speeds of up to 15.5 MPH and gradients of up to 15 degrees. And a 36volt 7.5Ah lithium-ion battery gives it the resilience to go a maximum mileage of up to 18.6 miles for extended trips around town, uni, or even the park. For an entry-level scooter at such a bargain price, you’ll be happy to know that this scooter comes with a robust set of electric and mechanical disc brakes, smoother than average dual suspension, and a solid, durable frame. It is also lightweight, which is a significant advantage for commuters that may need to pick and carry their electric scooters for distances at a time. The Kugoo M2 Pro is without a doubt value for money and could easily compete with most scooters that exhibit similar features but are much more expensive. If fun coupled with convenience sounds like the perfect collaboration for you, then the M2 Pro meets the brief perfectly.

Top Speed & Acceleration

The Kugoo M2 Pro can reach an incredible speed of up to 15.5 MPH and is the ideal e-scooter if you prefer speed in moderation.

    Hill Climbing

Bearing in mind that the Kugoo M2 Pro is a commuter scooter first and foremost, this e-scooter still performs relatively well uphill. And because the M2 Pro is a front-wheel drive, it gives the scooter better forward-pull and momentum so that it is possible to scale inclines as high as 15 degrees.

    Battery & Range

The Kugoo M2 Pro has an efficient, long-lasting 36V, 7.5.4 Ah lithium-ion battery with a short battery charge time of only 4 hours. However, it should be noted that as the life cycle of the battery is depleted over time, the battery charge time could gradually increase to 6 hours – which is still not too bad either. As far as range goes, the efficiency of a lithium-ion battery gives this scooter a more extended range of up to 18.6 miles.

    Motor Configuration

A single 350W BLDC motor gives this electric scooter the force it requires to hit speeds of up to 15.5 MPH, not forgetting the ability to tackle level and hilly terrain easily. A BLDC motor is usually reserved for higher-priced electric scooters because of its quality and durability, so it comes as a pleasant surprise that the M2 comes fitted with one.

      Performance Overview

The Kugoo M2 Pro is a reliable mode of transport with the sought-after features you’re after in one affordable package. The 350 Watt brushless motor situated in the front wheel is an unusual design. But it sure is smart, as it places the power on the front wheel, allowing for a stronger forward pull and momentum to accelerate even faster and harder than most other electric scooters in this price range. While this is a commuter scooter by definition, the suspension system, together with its 8.5-inch tyres, makes for a pretty incredible smoother ride even on less than desirable urban streets. Three-speed modes and cruise control make riding this e-scooter not only feasible but a lot of fun too. And electric brakes make stopping easy and safe, which is essential when riding in busy areas. Performance-wise, you’re getting more than you likely anticipated with this slammin’ commuter scooter.

      Construction & Quality

The Kugoo M2 Pro is solid and durable. The thing that makes the Kugoo M2 Pro so unique and sets it apart from its competitors is that it is constructed from both aluminium alloy and magnesium alloy. Both materials are super durable and lightweight, but Kugoo takes this a step further by adding magnesium alloy into the mix, which some say is even tougher than aluminium alloy and has greater resistance to impact. In addition to this, Kugoo has thoughtfully added other cool features to the Kugoo M2 Pro, such as wide handlebars with a good grip and a stem height that can accommodate most riders.

      Suspension & Comfort

The suspension of the Kugoo M2 Pro is another one of its wow features, as you would not normally expect such great suspension on an electric scooter at this priceIt has a double suspension in the rear and a spring suspension in the front, which gives this e-scooter extra cushioning for a smooth ride overall.

      Ride Quality

The Kugoo M2 Pro is a commuter’s dream regarding ride quality and ease of use. The M2 has all the features you would expect in a premium electric scooter but at a far lower price. Most notably, it has a well-built frame and stem that won’t buckle easily; smooth suspension; and strong acceleration, speed and torque, as well as the added bonus of cruise control.

      Lights

The lighting on the M2 Pro is well-designed and very functional. A bright front light illuminates the road in front of you for better forward visibility. And the rear brake lights are clear to see when the brakes are activated. As always, though, we recommend wearing reflective gear so that you are that much more noticeable at night when visibility is drastically reduced.

      Braking

As far as brakes go, Kugoo knows their stuff and went the extra mile to ensure that the brakes on the M2 are as safe as can be with its dual braking system. This scooter has top-rated stopping power with an electric brake in the front and a mechanical disc brake at the back. Over and above this, the Kugoo M2 Pro also has an emergency rear foot brake, giving you added reassurance that you’d be able to stop safely when you need to.

Kugoo M2 Pro electric scooter handlebars

      Portability

The Kugoo M2 Pro is so easy to fold with its easy release lever that opens with the push of a button, allowing you to unfold and fold this e-scooter with minimum effort required. The M2 Pro is also light enough to carry at 34.4 lbs, and the handlebars rotate, making this scooter even more compact to transport in the boot of your car, for instance. That said, it is a little front-heavy due to the position of the front motor, so adjusting the equilibrium of the M2 Pro might take a bit of getting used to.

      Tyres

8.5-inch pneumatic tyres is what gives the Kugoo M2 its spongy resistance to bumpy roads, reducing the impact felt by riders as they navigate less than predictable city streets. However, pneumatic tyres can be prone to punctures. But the Kugoo M2 Pro has tubeless pneumatic tyres that are generally tougher overall and not as susceptible to flats as tyres with inner tubes are.

      Deck

Kugoo certainly got this feature right for most (if not all) of their scooters, and the Kugoo M2 Pro is no different. Spacious with angled lines that add to the elegance of this e-scooter, the deck of the M2 is ultra-comfortable, not to mention safe with its rubberised, non-slip deck.

      Controls & Display

The controls and display of the Kugoo M2 Pro are neatly designed with maximum functionality in mind. The LED display screen is sufficiently bright and clear to see vital stats such as the speed you’re going, what gear you’re in, and how much battery life you have left. You’ll also find the power button on it, which also activates the front LED light when the scooter is on. The thumb throttle is conveniently situated on the right side of the handlebar. The throttle has a two-in-one feature that not only ramps up the speed of this e-scooter considerably but it’s also responsible for initialising cruise control. The Kugoo M2 Pro is also app-friendly with various settings, so if you like to experiment with adjusting settings such as acceleration and cruise control in addition to locking your scooter remotely, all on your mobile, you can do so with the Kugoo app. You may experience some connectivity issues with the Bluetooth; however, this is a common issue that most electric scooters struggle to get right and something Kugoo will hopefully rectify soon.

      Water Resistance

This scooter has an IP54 water resistance rating, which is standard amongst most electric scooters. Therefore, do not fear if your Kugoo M2 Pro experiences the odd splash here or there or light rain, as it will survive the elements.

      Reliability, Warranty & Customer Support

The Kugoo M2 Pro comes with a 12-month warranty on the whole, excluding the battery, which comes with a 6-month warranty. In addition to this, there is also a 14-day money-back guarantee if you experience something seriously wrong with the scooter on arrival.

      Known Issues

      None

      Maintenance

Simple and easy to maintain, the Kugoo M2 Pro is not a problematic scooter at all. Just be sure to store it away correctly after use, examine the tyres every so often for flats and ensure that your scooter is assembled correctly when you first set it up. For additional guidelines, the user manual comes with all the advice you need to properly take care of your electric scooter.

Kugoo M2 Pro: Is it worth the money and is it worth buying?

For $499 or £357, the Kugoo M2 Pro is affordably priced with better-than-average features than you would typically expect for an entry-level scooter. In summary, this electric scooter is well worth the money and is a clear winner if you’re a commuter looking for a reliable and efficient scooter for frequent commuter travelling.
