A beastly commuter scooter that has a top speed of around 55 MPH and a range of up to 93 miles

One e-scooter getting lots of attention from scooter enthusiasts is the Dualtron X scooter from Minimotors.

The Dualtron X is not your ordinary e-scooter-it’s much closer to a gas scooter than a conventional electric scooter.

With a massive 3kWh battery pack, 6.7 KW combined power, gargantuan 13″ wide tire with an incredible 90 miles of range at a cruising speed of 18-20mph, the X is your ultimate e-scooter.

Dualtron X Electric Scooter The Lowdown…

In recent years, electric scooters have become quite popular across the globe thanks to their ease of portability, as well as efficiency in enabling individuals to move around seamlessly while running errands.

With the increase in the popularity of e-scooters, there has been a consequent improvement in technology and functionality. Manufacturers go the extra mile to enhance performance, ride quality, battery range, and other features to increase their scooters’ popularity.

Dualtron X breaks the boundaries of what a typical e-scooter can achieve. It’s one of the biggest and most powerful electric scooters available in the market currently with off-road capabilities. Here’s our in-depth review.

Dualtron X Summary

The Dualtron X sports a different look from any standard e-scooter on the market currently. The scooter stands out for its bulkiness and robust construction.

It features a large and thick frame with visible thick cables and suspension. It is strong, stable, big, and heavy. It’s foldable design means that’s only meant for storage purposes rather than enhancing portability.

Unlike its predecessor, the Dualtron Thunder, the Dualtron X comes with advanced features. Minimotors redesigned its suspension, motor, tires, and frame, enhancing its uniqueness in the Dualtron e-scooter family. The scooter accelerates like a motorcycle and comes with incredible braking power and suspension, providing a comfortable riding experience.

The scooter is also very stable, with a high level of steering feedback and control. It provides amazing balance between speed, control, and brake power, pushing it to the limits beyond conventional e-scooters.
The Dualtron X scooter offers top-of-the-class ride quality thanks to the massive tires, coil-over-shock suspension, and steering damper. The ride is exceptionally smooth and stable, even at high speeds and gives the feeling of gliding while riding.

The X incorporates plenty of features, including two extra USB ports on the stem as well as a kiddy bar mounted to the front of the cockpit for mounting additional lights. The scooter also comes with an optional attachable seat, which would make it appear more of an electric scooter motorcycle than a stand-up scooter.

Performance Overview

The Dualtron X scooter packs two incredible BLDH motors rated at 6720W max, translating to outstanding torque, gradeability, and maximum speed.

The X is a performance monster. With such intense power, the scooter can comfortably tackle hills, bumps, stiff inclines, and off-road environments without struggling.

Unlike other e-scooters, the X incorporates an air cooling system to prevent the engine from overheating and damaging the electrical components attributed to the intense power it produces. The Dualtron X can take up any challenge thrown at it regardless of the terrain or environment.

Speed & Acceleration

The Dualtron X is undisputedly one of the fastest scooters in the market.

Thanks to the 6.7KW  from the motor powered by the massive 3kWh battery pack, the acceleration is staggering.

With a top speed of around 88.50 Km/h (55 MPH), the X takes 2.2 seconds to accelerate to 24 kmh, 3.0 seconds to accelerate to 32 kmh, and 4.0 seconds to accelerate to 40 kmh. It’s very quick, so you can be sure of shorter journeys.

    Top Speed

Minimotors claims that the X has a top speed of 88.50 Km/h (55 MPH), but this seems to be the lower side as some riders have reported to have hit almost 100 Km/h (65 MPH) riding the scooter.

The scooter’s top speed is somewhere between 55 MPH to 65 MPH.

The maximum speed could be affected by several factors such as the rider’s weight, speed of the wind, state of the scooter, amount of charge left, and the type of terrain. All in all, the X is among the fastest scooters available in the market currently. If you’re a speed enthusiast, look no further than the Dualtron X.

      Hill Climbing

The Dualtron X can climb gradients up to 70% or 35 degrees depending on rider weight and state of charge but again this will vary heavily depending on rider weight.

      Battery & Range

The Dualtron X’s incredible performance is credited to its monster battery with a 2, 940Wh capacity.

The scooter also boasts an additional 180 watt-hour battery pack in the stem used to power just lights and other accessories, allowing the main battery to be used solely to power the motor.

The battery has a pretty long charge time of 7.5 hours. However, considering its intense power and battery size, this is the shortest charge time you’ll get on a scooter with these specs. However, if you don’t have a fast charger, the scooter can take up to 20 hours to charge to its total capacity.

The scooter boasts of a range of 93 miles at 18 MPH under ideal conditions. With the X, the range varies based on the acceleration. If you put the pedal to the metal, you’re more likely to get a range of 40-55 miles.

      Motor Configuration

The Dualtron X comes with dual 6,720 W max brushless DC electric motors. These motors are powered by the LG cells of the X’s 60V 49Ah battery pack with a capacity of 2 940Wh.

A cooling system comes in handy to keep it functional even in intense heat.

        Construction & Quality

The Dualtron X employs a rugged construction, which makes it look more aggressive than its predecessor, the Thunder.

From afar, it appears like a battle tank-bulky, wide, and extremely rugged. The ultra-wide wheels, thick frame, and hydraulic suspension are easily noticeable. The construction is nothing short of beefy, with an overload of heavy metal parts.

The deck, which harbours the primary battery, appears very wide and thick. The T-bar carries the secondary battery, which makes it look bulky too.

Overall, the scooter appears somewhat boxy, and the right angles don’t seem to streamline it much. The scooter achieves a utilitarian feel with the exposed rivets. The matte gray finish complements the construction making it the perfect choice for riders.

        Suspension & Comfort

The Dualtron X features 19-stage adjustable hydraulic, piston-like shock absorbers, with robust coil springs wrapped around them.

With such a suspension, it’s no surprise that the X offers unmatched riding comfort.

The suspension is very responsive in rough terrains and bumps. Better yet, you can manually tinker with the level of suspension by pressing a little red adjuster on the top of each coil. By pressing the red adjuster, you can seamlessly tweak the level of shock absorption.

As such, you can transit from flexible levels of shock absorption ideal for off-roading, to a stiffer setup that is better suited for road racing.

        Ride Quality

The Dualtron X offers unmatched ride quality. It’s the most comfortable scooter to ride by far, thanks to large hefty wheels and functional shock absorbers. When you’re riding the X, you get the sensation that you’re surfing or gliding over the road. It also handles well and feels very stable when cruising at high speeds.

The steering damper comes in handy to enable you to keep the scooter focused on the road as you get to speed. It helps keep the steering tight and provides control over handling. This, combined with the ultra-wide tires, stabilises the scooter, keeping it chained to the road while accelerating.

        Braking

With a top speed of about 62 mph, the Dualtron X needed to incorporate an effective braking system. The X achieves effective, precise braking via its massive Nutt-branded fully-hydraulic disc brakes placed in both the front and the rear. The hydraulic brakes are quite powerful and require little maintenance. Most importantly, they are very effective in all conditions, including wet surfaces.

The rotors are ~160 mm and air-cooled for maximum performance. For even and enhanced braking, the X incorporated an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The ABS works to prevent the scooter’s wheels from locking up and skidding. There’s also a sensor ring placed at the X’s disc brake to detect when the wheel is beginning to lock up and overrides it to regain control.

Such an exemplary braking system makes the Dualtron X very safe even when hitting nerve-shredding speeds. You’re always guaranteed of stopping if need be.

        Portability

The Dualtron X is not a portable scooter. While the frame and handlebars can be folded, the X has a massive weight, making it almost impossible to fold it, place it on the back of a car, or travel with it on a bus or train.

When the frame is folded and the handlebar is collapsed, the scooter shrinks in height, from 48.8 inches (unfolded) to 30.70 inches (folded). This, however, doesn’t make the scooter more portable. Besides, once folded, it’s still unlikely you’ll be able to push the scooter under your desk or squeeze in an elevator or the trunk of your car.

If you’re looking for a more portable scooter, consider other models other than the X.

        Lights

Like most scooters, the Dualtron X features an exemplary light system that makes it safe to ride at night. It comes with an extra battery pack solely to power LED lights. In addition to the central ultra-bright LED light, the scooter incorporates tons of swag lights, including an illuminated logo on the side of the deck.

The scooter also features direction lights that can comfortably be operated through the small panel on the handlebar with your left thumb. The directional lights are placed both on the rear and the front deck.

With such a light set, you’re guaranteed to be visible on the road while also enhancing your vision when riding.

        Tyres

The Dualtron X is an absolute beast in terms of tyres. It comes with massive 33.0-centimeter by 13-centimeter tubeless pneumatic tyres. The wide tyres are vital for providing enhanced balance and stability. They keep the scooter firmly planted to the ground under heavy acceleration. Besides, the tyres enhance ride quality allowing the scooter to roll over bumps and other obstacles with ease.

The Dualtron X’s massive tyres confer off-road capabilities, contribute to outstanding performance and enhance riding comfort. The tyres are also tubeless, meaning they have minimal maintenance requirements and are easy to detach and attach when they need to be replaced.

        Deck

The Dualtron X has a spacious deck perfect for your riding comfort.

The deck measures 22 inches in length and 13 inches in width; thus, it is spacious enough to fit all feet sizes. If you have an eye for aesthetics, you’ll quickly notice the beauty of the deck where the light glints off the grippy ‘X’ inscribed on the surface.

A dark grey retractable kickstand is attached to the deck allowing for seamless parking.

        Controls & Accessories

The Dualtron X combines performance with a collection of user-friendly controls and accessories to enhance the riding experience.

The controls feature a center console that includes a clear, bright display showing real-time battery status for both of the scooter’s batteries. The handlebars incorporate a variety of controls, including a fingerprint recognition ignition system and an automatic ignition.

The turn and hazard signals also feature on the handlebars, within easy reach of the left grip. You also get to monitor your speed and drive time via the Eye LCD, plus adjust the throttle with the touch of a finger.

For the accessories, there is a built-in hook right in front of the battery to securely carry a small bag. Since the handlebars are pretty loaded, the scooter’s design includes a multi-bar for adding various accessories such as a cell phone mount or a cup holder.

It will also be a good idea to purchase some quality grips considering that the X’s stock grips are of poor quality.

        Build Quality

The Dualtron X is built to last. Its frame and handlebars are constructed from an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy, perfect for withstanding even the harshest of conditions. The aggressively rugged and tank-like structure is reinforced in all areas to withstand extreme speeds, plus endure even the most brutal hits.

The shaft is made of a sturdy steel composite material, while the mudguards are constructed from hard-wearing polypropylene plastic, making them highly rigid. The X is very durable and the build quality is outstanding.

Plus this electric scooter is backed up by an amazing 2 year warranty.

        Reliability

The reliability of the Dualtron X is unquestionable, and is a fantastic performer in all-terrains.

Unlike other e-scooters, the X tackles hills with ease, inclining up to 70%. It is incredibly comfortable, has breath taking acceleration and torque, has a broader range, great top speed, and is outstandingly safe.

This is not your average e-scooter- It’s by far among the most extreme scooters we have around today. It’s definitely best suited for scooter enthusiasts looking for more than the average scooter to explore their passion.

        Warranty & Customer Support

The Dultron X has an incredible 2 year warranty on all faults. The customer service and support is also faultless from this brand.

        Maintenance

Like most e-scooters, the Dualtron X has minimal maintenance.

Basic maintenance practices you can undertake include cleaning regularly, charging often, and servicing as required.

Dualtron X: Is it worth the money and is it worth buying?

If you are looking for the monster truck of electric scooters, then the answer is a resounding yes!

All in all, the Dualtron X is a highly specific scooter, built for the discerning customer who will be using it for a highly specific purpose. Minimotors created this scooter for the extreme scooter clientele.

It is by far one of the most extreme scooters available today. The fact that it is over the top in almost every area is a selling point to those scooter fans who want the biggest, baddest, most extreme scooter money can buy.

This is not a scooter for the daily commute only. It is a scooter that will take you to the top of a cliff and navigate the rough terrain of the most expert level trails.
