Electric scooters are here to stay as one of the best ways to beat traffic and parking woes, save on gas, and leave the car behind.

From lightweight, portable commuters to budget models to the fastest, most rugged scooters on the market, these are the ten best electric scooter for adults in 2023
KQi2 10
Electric scooters have evolved from kids’ toys to grown-up, fast, reliable, high-tech personal electric vehicles in just a few short years.

This rapid transformation can feel a little dizzying for consumers. How do you choose the best electric scooter for adults in a fast-growing market of high quality scooters (and poor-quality imitators) and seemingly hundreds of options for “best e scooter”?

There are many variables to consider, from weight and portability to battery life, top speed, and price, to features like front and rear suspension systems, anti-lock brakes, and even mobile apps.

All that’s to say, there’s a lot to think about when shopping for electric scooters for adults. Today’s e scooters aren’t casual toys, they’re serious vehicles with serious differences between makes and models.

What should you look for in the best electric scooters for adults?

What Should You Look for in the Best Electric Scooters for Adults?

Ride Quality

An electric scooter’s ride quality is determined by everything from tires to wheel size to suspension to the size and composition of the scooter’s deck and stem and the ease and placement of its controls. All of a scooter’s components should work together to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride experience. However, manufacturers sometimes compromise on some components to keep costs or weight down.

Tires

Tires can be solid or air-filled. Solid tires are correlated with a harsher ride, but they’re also serious weight-savers and will never get punctures or need air.

On the whole, air-filled tires give a smoother, more comfortable ride with superior cornering and grip, and they are necessary for rough roads, bad weather, and off-road use.

Suspension

Suspension systems – from single springs to dual hydraulic shocks – dampen vibration but also add weight and cost. An electric scooter does not need a suspension system to be a smooth ride on level pavement, but for rough terrain or off-road use, they are essential.

What should you look for in the best electric scooters for adults?

Build Quality

Deck size and stem height vary widely among adult electric scooter brands and will affect handling. Some stems are adjustable, others are not, and deck quality can vary with materials. It’s hard to know how an electric scooter’s build will feel to you until you stand on it, so a generous return policy can be a huge plus when making a buying decision.

Top Speed and Power

Features like top speed must be considered in relation to local regulations as well as the safety of other drivers and pedestrians. Fastest does not always mean best. Unless you can take an electric scooter on high-speed roads, you won’t actually experience the rush of its top speeds.

There is a growing market for off-road performance scooters. But also remember that more power also means added weight and reduced portability. Is it worth the trade-off?

unagi folding mechanism

Weight and Portability

Ideally, a portable electric scooter should fold easily and have a weight and form factor that allows the average person to pick it up, carry it, and stow it away. A scooter weighing over 40 pounds can become a challenge for many riders to heft up and down stairs. Just as a rule, a more lightweight electric scooter is simply a more portable scooter.

But the total weight of an electric scooter comes from a number of factors, including the battery and motor size and the weight of the materials. A scooter with a sophisticated front and rear suspension and large battery capacity can offer a smoother ride…  but wait until you try to move it by hand.

Range, Speed, and Weight

If you live near the office and only plan to run local errands in a crowded city, a lightweight electric scooter with a limited range serves the purpose.

On the other hand, if you plan to use your scooter to explore the outer boundaries of your city and beyond, you’ll need more battery capacity for a longer range and a suspension system for comfort, and thus a heavier, more expensive scooter.

Individual riders also vary significantly in weight and height, and these factors play a major role in the ride experience. Increased rider weight means reduced range and speed. In addition, some models will accommodate heavier riders or those with a wider stance, while others will not.

On or Off-Road Electric Scooter?

There are good reasons to buy an off-road scooter – or an electric scooter with some off-road capabilities. Such scooters can often have higher levels of water-resistance (look for the IP rating and find an explanation here) and more rugged builds. But unless you plan to hit the trails or travel in frequently adverse conditions, such features might be unnecessary.

Unagi Model One Summary

The Unagi Model One is, hands-down, the most elegantly designed affordable scooter on the market. Its tapered carbon-fiber stem has received comparisons to modernist sculpture and the total package fits together seamlessly for a very low-maintenance electric vehicle available through the only electric scooter subscription service on the market.

The electric-scooter-as-a-service model makes for a low-risk way to get into riding electric scooters without making a significant investment.

Speed & Power

The Model One is a reliable electric scooter that performs excellently as a low-range urban commuter with just enough power (500w) in a slim, lightweight, portable package. Unagi’s advantage comes in its materials – aluminum, magnesium, and carbon fiber – which reduce weight without compromising strength or build quality. This results in one of the lightest adult electric scooters on the market, with rapid acceleration and smooth, responsive controls.

The scooter’s dual, 250-watt motors (combined with its weight-saving features) deliver more than enough power to climb hills with ease, and acceleration is smooth along the scooter’s ergonomic thumb throttle. Launched and tested in the San Francisco Bay area, the Model One can take on some fairly steep climbs without much difficulty.

Braking & Handling

The Model One’s dual anti-lock electronic brakes provide good stopping power. An additional foot brake offers added safety and enables riders to stop safely if the scooter runs out of power. Unlike mechanical and hydraulic disc brake systems, Unagi’s electronic brakes require no maintenance – no pads or rotors to change and no adjustments.

Solid, vented tires provide good grip and a smooth ride on urban roads, but they won’t work nearly as well as pneumatic tires in wet or bumpy conditions. Limited traction and an IP rating of IP54 make it suitable, but not ideal, for riding in light rain.

unagi model one back wheel

Ride Quality

Where the Model One scores lowest is where it compromises to save weight to increase ease of use. Notably, the electric scooter has no suspension system, and while the pockets in its tires do an admirable job of damping small bumps, they are no match for bigger jolts or potholes. It’s a smooth ride on level city streets, sidewalks, and paved trails, but throw any rocky ground at the Model One and you’ll feel it in your joints. On the other hand, you’ll never have to walk or find a ride home after getting a flat tire because – solid tires.

Range

The scooter’s compact frame houses a relatively small (but very high quality) lithium-ion battery with a limited capacity. While the company claims a 15.5 mile range for the electric scooter, real-world tests have put it under 10 miles for average-sized riders – still perfect for a short commute, light trips around town, or as a last-mile connector for public transit.

Unagi logo on the Model One electric scooter

Portability

Unagi’s decision to forgo suspension and air-filled tires pays off with ultra-portability. The Model One is the lightest electric scooter on this list (and overall just a great scooter). It folds in seconds, thanks to a sliding one-click folding mechanism, and the stem that collapses at a 90-degree angle, making the scooter less bulky when carried (and easier to store). At under 30 pounds, the scooter’s weight will feel manageable for nearly any rider, and its slim, tapered stem becomes an ergonomic handle when folded down.

Additional Features

Unagi has truly brought fashion-forward thinking to micromobility, with hip ad campaigns (featuring Iggy Pop!) and a line of clothing and accessories. They’ve also created a highly reliable, fast, stylish scooter that breaks barriers to entry with the only subscription service in the market.

EMOVE Cruiser Summary

The EMOVE Cruiser hits many of the categories on this list of electric scooters, with its high water resistance and high payload, which make it a great choice for riders who live in rough climates and heavier riders, too. In fact, the Cruiser might be one of the best electric scooters you can buy for the money all-around. And while it’s almost double the weight of some other compact commuter scooters, the Cruiser makes up for its comparative bulk with exceptionally long range and some premium features typically found on more expensive electric scooters.

emove cruiser front wheel

Speed & Power

The EMOVE Cruiser blows away many commuter scooters with its maximum speed of 33 mph (over twice the top speed of a Bird, Lime, or any other brand of shared scooter). The scooter’s single 1000-watt motor is also great at conquering typical city hills, and even some of the more challenging ones.

Braking & Handling

Dual hybrid hydraulic brakes with large, 140 mm rotors give this electric scooter excellent stopping power. They’re backed up by rear-wheel electronic braking, which will never need adjustment or replacement parts.

The scooter’s suspension gives it a solid, stable feel when braking and hitting corners, even on steep declines and rough roads.

emove cruiser rear wheel

Ride Quality

The Cruiser impresses yet again with its luxurious, 23-inch deck, which gives it a longer wheelbase and more flex.

What’s more, the hybrid hydraulic/spring suspension system and tubeless tires provide a seriously cushiony ride for an adult electric scooter, even on cracked pavement and dirt trails.

Range

While the term “station wagon” has taken on the worst of connotations, it once meant the ultimate in comfort for the long haul, and the Cruiser meets these standards with its plush, expansive ride. Massive battery power promises up to 62 miles of range, which will get you to grandma’s house or to the shore and back again. Real-world mileage will vary depending on conditions (rider weight, speed, hills, terrain). Remember, the less power the battery has to output to the motor, the farther the scooter will go, so a light touch on the throttle goes a long way.

emove cruiser electric scooter folded

Portability

The EMOVE Cruiser is hardly as cumbersome as a station wagon – it’s a portable electric scooter, after all. But it’s not the most compact of electric scooters. At over 50 pounds, the Cruiser can be a little hefty for running errands around the city. But its telescoping stem and folding handlebars make it much smaller than its size would suggest when folded, and it should slide easily into the back of an unloaded car.

Additional Features

The EMOVE Cruiser features lighting all around its deck for high visibility, self-canceling turn signals, a super-bright LED headlamp, and an electric horn. All of these safety features make the comparison to a large family car even more apt, and make the Cruiser feel much more secure on the road.

KQi2 Pro Summary

NIU has put over 2 million electric mopeds on roads around the world. So, when the company turned its attention to electric scooters, they brought with them years of real-world data and experience meeting riders’ needs. This shows in the approach to the KQI2, perhaps the best budget electric scooter on the scooter market. With features like Bluetooth and an app that lets riders lock the e scooter remotely (and check its vitals), the KQI2 may not have the name recognition of many other electric scooters, but it delivers their goods and then some.

niu kqi2 pro headlight

Speed & Power

With only a 300 watts motor running it, the KQi2 will never beat its pricier competitors (or its premium cousin, the KQi3) in a street race. It shines where it counts, however, as an everyday commuter vehicle, reaching a respectable top speed of up to 17 mph, depending on conditions. The scooter does not, by any means, feel underpowered. It accelerates rapidly, takes hills of up 15 degrees with relative ease, and really shines on lesser inclines.

Braking & Handling

Consistent with the rest of its design, the KQi2’s braking system does exactly what it needs to, hassle and worry-free. The scooter comes to a firm stop with a single lever that activates two brakes: a drum brake on the front wheel and a rear regenerative brake that feeds power back to the battery when operated. This unique system performs well in most conditions you’ll encounter on the KQi2 and won’t lock and send you into a skid or a faceplant.

kqi2 pro rear tire

Ride Quality

NIU shows it knows its stuff with the KQi2’s build and ride quality – the electric scooter feels exceptionally well-constructed and solid. The scooter does not have a suspension system, which would add extra weight, but its good-sized tubeless tires soak up most bumps on the road and its rock-solid frame absorbs vibrations quite well.

Range

Thanks to rear-wheel regenerative braking, the KQi2 returns power to the battery while braking, which gives this electric scooter far more range than its competitors, up to 25 miles on a single charge.

kqi2 pro electric scooter folded

Portability

While the KQi2 is hardly the lightest electric scooter on this list, its folding mechanism is quick and well-designed, and at 40 pounds, its weight feels manageable for toting up stairs.

Additional Features

NIU’s easy-to-read LED display stands out, even in bright sunlight. This is complemented by an always-on halo of light around the switchable headlamp, which increases your visibility to others on the road in all conditions.

Notably, the KQi2 comes with an app and Bluetooth connectivity, rare features among most electric scooters at this price point. And remarkably, the scooter comes with a two-year warranty on all major parts, which proves the KQi2 is the one of the best electric scooters you can purchase on a budget.

two hiboy s2 electric scooters

Hiboy S2 Summary

The Hiboy S2 is an affordable, entry-level e scooter with stylish looks and dual suspension in the rear. While it sits at the lower end for a budget scooter, the S2 provides decent ride quality, good acceleration, and solid braking, thanks to an electronic front brake and mechanical single rear disc brake. its mobile app and digital locking system – along with an optional seat – are features typically found on much pricier models.

Speed & Power

The S2’s 350W motor may seem small compared with beefier electric scooters, but spins out enough power to provide rapid acceleration for average-sized riders. It handles hills up to 15% well, and maxes out at a top speed of 18.5 mph, though this will vary depending on factors like rider weight and the state of the scooter’s battery.

Braking & Handling

The S2 features an electronic brake up front and a mechanical rear disc brake, a highly effective combination that delivers plenty of stopping power. A single lever on the handlebars operates the dual braking system simultaneously, and an additional thumb controller activates only the electronic brake.

It’s a combination that enables sudden stops at speed as well as more gentle braking while cruising around a curve. Where many other scooters fail to provide adequate traction on the deck, the S2’s wide deck is covered in grippy rubber tread, which gives it a very secure feel and allows for shifting your stance comfortably as you ride.

hiboy s2 electric scooter folded

Ride Quality

Budget scooters must compromise in one area or another, and in this case, it’s the ride quality that suffers most from Hiboy’s decision to forgo pneumatic tires. The solid rubber wheels can feel a bit harsh on anything but the smoothest roads.

Range

At 260 pounds, the Hiboy S2 has a high weight-bearing capacity compared to other lightweight economy electric scooters, which makes it a great e scooter for a wide range of beginners, from young adults to older riders. But bear in mind that the larger the rider, the less range e scooters will get, and the S2’s small, 350W motor will drain the battery quickly with more weight. Although it promises a range of 17 miles, factors like weight, hills, and battery life can bring this down to 10-12.

Portability

The S2’s slim profile and light weight make it extremely portable, great for carrying around on a tour through a new city, for example, where it can be toted up stairs and onto subway cars or buses, or tossed into the trunk without a hassle.

Additional Features

While mobile apps are becoming increasingly common features for electric scooters, they’ve rarely come standard on models at this price point. The S2’s app gives riders up to date information about the scooter’s battery level and other details and lets them switch between its two riding modes, turn lights off and on, and even lock the scooter remotely from their phone.

  • Fast charging time
  • Suitable for larger riders
  • Mobile app integration
  • Light weight
  • Suitable for heavier riders

Segway Ninebot E22 Summary

The Segway Ninebot E22 is a highly portable favorite for a reason. It travels well in the back of a car or van and on bike paths and smooth roads. It’s light, well designed, and anyone can ride it.

Speed & Power

The E22 isn’t the fastest electric scooter you can buy. Its 300 watts push it up to around 12 miles per hour, a respectable speed for skateboards and about twice as fast as walking. But this budget electric scooter isn’t built for speed. Its best features are high reliability, value, and ease-of-use, and in these categories it ranks very highly for an entry-level adult scooter.

segway ninebot e22 electric scooter motor

Braking & Handling

Braking on the E22 involves a combination of a front e-ABS electric brake and rear-fender-operated mechanical brake, an effective design for stopping the low-powered vehicle without any difficulty. The build quality is solid, and the scooter feels very durable in motion, with an easy-to-read display and simple thumb-operated controls for braking and acceleration. The E22 will seem sluggish on steeper grades.

Ride Quality

While the E22 lacks a suspension system, a rarity for any electric scooter at this price point, its foam core tires do a surprisingly good job at cushioning the ride, and they’ll never be at risk of going flat. While solid will never outperform air-filled tires, these have some deep-grooved tread that give them added traction on both wet and dry surfaces and help increase stopping power.

Segway Ninebot E22

Range

Range for the E22 is limited to around 13 miles, a function of a smaller capacity battery, which keeps the overall weight of the e scooter down. However, an optional battery pack can give it much longer range and a slight boost in speed (up to 15.5 mph), making the E22 a more versatile electric scooter than many others.

Portability

The E22 is highly portable. It folds in one motion, weighs little, and slides right into the back of a vehicle with ease. Indeed, at under 30 pounds, the E22 is one of the most portable electric scooters on the market.

Additional Features

Mobile app integration, a mechanical bell, and a bright 2.5W headlight complete the total package of this electric scooter.

Apollo City Pro Summary

With aggressive looks and styling, the Apollo City Pro certainly looks the part of a mean, pavement-eating machine – and that’s what it is, a beast in nearly any climate or any kind of urban terrain you’re likely to encounter on your commute. Its beautiful controls and features such as beeping turn signals (which turn off automatically!) make it a premium commuter scooter to beat.

Speed & Power

The City Pro sports one powerful motor in each wheel for a total of 1000 watts, which give the electric scooter monster acceleration (go easy on the throttle) and can drive it at speeds of over 30 miles per hour – enough to keep up with city traffic and faster than many electric bikes. Its dual motors conquer hills at a fast clip, even with riders over 200 pounds.

apollo city pro electric scooter handlebars, stem, and display

Braking & Handling

Rather than disc brakes, which are standard on other e scooters in its class, the City Pro uses drum brakes on both wheels, in addition to electronic regenerative braking. While hydraulic disc brakes have a little more stopping power, the drum brakes do an excellent job of stopping the e scooter, don’t require complicated adjustment, and will outlast disc brakes. The regenerative braking can be set to operate on its own, bypassing the mechanical brakes and charging the battery every time you touch the ergonomic levers.

Large wheels and tires provide stability and traction on both wet roads and dry for confident riding in almost any conditions.

Ride Quality

The City Pro’s beefy 10 inch tubeless tires (self-healing!) and triple-spring suspension offer a firm but well-cushioned ride that accommodates larger riders, up to and even above its 265-pound weight rating. With high deck clearance, the electric scooter can hit potholes and cracked pavement and keep going without rattling bones or scratching the undercarriage.

Range

Longer commutes won’t be a problem for the City Pro because of its battery capacity and regenerative braking system, which give it a projected range of up to 38 miles, though your mileage will, of course, vary, especially if you ride the scooter aggressively — which can be hard to resist — or in bad weather. The key to extending range is braking early, gradually, and often, easily done with the smooth action of the City Pro’s brake levers.

folded apollo city pro electric scooter

Portability

There’s no getting around it: the City Pro’s power, rock solid build and suspension, and sophisticated braking system come at a cost when it comes to weight. At 65 pounds, it requires good upper body strength to carry more than a few feet, so if you need a commuter vehicle you can carry up several flights of stairs a day, this may not be an ideal option. That said, the added weight is a worthwhile trade-off for the scooter’s serious urban performance and wealth of features (more on that below). There are lighter electric scooters you can buy but there are few better for the price.

Additional Features

As if the City Pro didn’t do enough, it also features turn signals, a gorgeous integrated LED display, an app with navigation and post-ride analytics, and an optional phone mount. AND, its water resistance rating of IP56 means its vital electronic parts have significant protection from the elements if you end up riding through a sudden storm, an event this electric scooter can handle better than almost any other on this list except the EMOVE Cruiser.

apollo city pro electric scooter
Dual 1000-watt motors give the Apollo Ghost major acceleration and climbing ability for riders up to 300 pounds. While it lacks regenerative braking, the electric scooter boasts considerable range. The Ghost’s rigid, forged aluminum frame, 10-inch air-filled tires, and dual spring suspension soak up bumps on the road and it offers the option of mechanical or more sensitive hydraulic dual disc brakes.

Apollo Ghost Summary

Dual 1000-watt-motor electric scooters can cost twice as much – and weigh almost twice as much — as the Apollo Ghost, which may be the best electric scooter for heavier riders available for under $2000. In contrast to the Apollo City Pro, it’s not the most feature-packed scooter you can buy, yet it does exactly what it’s designed to do with maximum efficiency, ergonomics, and excitement.

apollo ghost electric scooter

Speed & Power

A combined 2000 watts of power and a large, high capacity lithium battery work together to produce the Ghost’s climbing prowess and top speed of 34 miles per hour. Riders up to 300 pounds will feel confident attacking hills without the sluggish acceleration to which most electric scooters succumb on steeper inclines. Long battery life and dual-motor efficiency keep the scooter pushing high speeds at long range.

Braking & Handling

The Ghost’s dual mechanical brakes are an unpretentious, highly effective system that feels smooth and responsive. The stopping power of this electric scooter, however, gets a significant boost from the hydraulic disc brake option, which is well worth the extra cost if it’s in your budget.

A forged-aluminum reinforced stem, bullet-proof construction, and comfortable ergonomically-designed grips all contribute to the scooter’s excellent handling abilities.

Ride Quality

It’s no joke to say that riding the Apollo Ghost feels like floating on air, even for riders over 200 pounds. The dual spring suspension is adjustable so lighter riders can get more bounce. The deck’s 19 x 9 inches create a spacious enough platform for a wider stance, and the high clearance and 10-inch tires carry the scooter easily over road debris or even small rocks for some light off-road riding.

Range

For its weight, the Apollo Ghost covers an impressive range. While, as always, the distance you can travel will depend on your weight, speed, and other factors, the Ghost travels an above-average range across the board under a multitude of conditions. This ability is especially useful given the long charging time required by its large capacity battery.

apollo city pro electric scooter

Portability

No one’s going to mistake the Apollo Ghost for an easily portable electric scooter, but in comparison to other dual-motor, full-suspension electric scooters in its class it’s almost featherweight. Most other scooters with the Ghost’s build quality and features weigh 10-20 pounds more. And despite its 67 pounds, it presents a fairly compact footprint when folded.

Additional Features

The Ghost has two riding modes, ECO and Turbo, switchable with a thumb button. Its controls will appeal to experienced riders, but they don’t take much getting used to, with a voltmeter display and keyed switch on the left and small round display showing speed, mode, battery status, and odometer on the right. There’s also an option to switch between single and dual motor operation. Of particular note is the Ghost’s lighting, which embeds LED headlights, taillights, and haunting blue ambient side lighting in the deck.

Anyhill UM-2 Summary

Anyhill is a new company, and the UM-2 is their first electric scooter. Unhampered by a commitment to any previous designs, they’ve come up with a truly unique vehicle that pairs optimal convenience with excellent all-around performance. Although it’s an affordable option at under $1000, the UM-2’s build quality and durability match that of premium electric scooters that cost more. While it’s not a speed freak and lacks suspension, it is a relatively lightweight, comfortable, portable electric scooter that works great for heavier riders.

Ride Quality

The UM-2 lacks a suspension system, but its 10-inch tubeless tires do the needed work of buffering uneven roads perfectly well. Tubeless tires are lighter than tubed versions, and they have less rolling resistance, which means they’re faster. They’re also less prone to flats and can be run at slightly lower pressures for an even more comfortable ride.

Range

Removable batteries seem like a no-brainer for a commuter electric scooter, and the UM-2 has made theirs super easy to swap out – it’s part of the deck and pops right out when you pull a latch on the rear fender. The battery itself is tough and highly resistant to spills and rain thanks to its IPX6 rating. It can be charged independently or stowed in a backpack (it only weighs 5 pounds) while you pop in an optional spare and keep going. Regenerative braking helps extend range even farther, and a fast charging time of 5 hours means you never need to run out of juice.

Portability

At 44 pounds, the UM-2 is a manageable weight for toting up stairs. The stem folds easily at a 90-degree angle for a compact package that’s far smaller when folded than electric scooters that collapse into a more triangular shape.

Additional Features

In addition to its removable battery, the UM-2 features a two-sided, center-mounted kickstand, which stands it upright on most any surface. It also includes a colorful, attractive display and a mobile app that changes riding modes, tracks battery life, and locks and unlocks the scooter remotely.

Wolf Warrior X Summary

The Wolf Warrior X does not disappoint in any department, unless you’re expecting to carry it around with you. At 80 pounds, it’s not the most portable electric scooter, but it is lighter than many other off-road scooters in its class, an advantage that translates to increased speed and range. With its BMX-style handlebars, knobby 10-inch tires, and high clearance, it’s primed for dirt tracks and trails of all kinds.

kaabo wolf warrior x front wheel

Speed & Power

The Wolf Warrior X puts out a huge amount of power when you press the throttle thanks to dual 1100-watt motors that propel it up hills and over rough terrain. With a fully-charged battery, its advertised top speed of 44 miles per hour is definitely achievable (so absolutely wear your helmet), making the Wolf Warrior X a truly race-worthy vehicle.

Braking & Handling

Dual hydraulic disc brakes come standard on the X, complemented by regenerative electronic brakes. The braking is top notch, and the long deck, robust double stem, and substantial, caged rear fender give the scooter a solid, maneuverable feel at all times, even while cornering at high speeds or braking hard.

kaabo wolf warrior x badge

Ride Quality

The Wolf Warrior X sails over rough roads, dirt, and gravel. Its off-road tires have real bite and reassuring traction in almost any conditions, and its dual shocks up front / springs in the back suspension keeps vertical travel to a minimum. Vibrational movement from side-to-side is damped by the dual stem. No matter how hard or how far you push this electric scooter, the ride feels stable and comfortable.

Range

A large 1260 watt-hour battery and comparatively light weight (compared, that is, to its bigger siblings) give the Wolf Warrior X the capability to keep going and going, up to 40 miles on a single charge. The comfort of its ride will make you want to put this to the test as much as possible.

kaabo wolf warrior x folded

Portability

Built for rugged durability, vibration dampening, speed, and range, the Wolf Warrior X does not do portability especially well, but it’s also the kind of electric scooter you’re unlikely to make a daily ride-to-the-office commuter. Its long range ensures plenty of travel time between charges, so the heavy lifting needed to move it won’t be a frequent event. In any case, the stem folds down easily with two quick latches and the rear cage doubles as a handle for (relatively) easy lifting.

Additional Features

The most notable, high-tech features on the Wolf Warrior X are the huge range of settings available on its expert-level throttle controls and through its mobile app, which boasts 100 different settings for the scooter’s deck and taillights and super-bright headlights. The e scooter’s lighting design makes it one of the very best to ride at night.

Wolf Warrior X Pros

  • Incredibly fast and responsive
  • Very long range
  • Super stable handling and braking
  • Extremely comfortable on all terrain
  • Extra bright lighting

Varla Eagle One Pro Summary

Built like a WWII tank, the Eagle One Pro can take on anything you throw at it. Its slim, angular styling makes it fit right in on city streets, and it’s fast enough to beat most city traffic. But make no mistake, its rugged, aluminum alloy and magnesium construction suits this electric scooter for gnarlier terrain.

varla eagle one pro electric scooter

Speed & Power

The Varla Eagle One Pro is one of the fastest electric scooters you can buy for the money, reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. Its dual 1000-watt motors have no trouble pushing the e scooter up steep inclines. The scooter’s acceleration compares with those that cost twice the price – for all around power and speed in an off-road capable scooter, it’s hard to beat the Eagle One Pro.

Braking & Handling

Mechanical disc brakes with adjustable e-ABS do a great job of stopping the Varla Eagle One Pro, though they don’t have the sensitivity and feel of hydraulics. This braking system, however, does not not compromise in stopping power. Even at top speeds, the scooter holds steady thanks to a built-in steering damper that absorbs vibration from rough pavement, gravel, or trail.

varla eagle one pro electric scooter rear wheel

Ride Quality

With dual hydraulic suspension, the Eagle One Pro delivers a firm, yet bouncy ride over both level pavement and messier terrain. Its deck may feel a little short to some riders, and those with large feet or a wider stance might consider an electric scooter with more room. That said, it’s hard to find a scooter this fast in this price class also sporting tubeless, 11-inch tires, which give the Eagle One Pro major clearance and resist flats.

Range

For its 90-pound weight – the heaviest scooter on this list – Varla’s Eagle One Pro gets surprisingly good range. This is down to its 1440 watt-hour battery, which can carry it up to 40 miles on its lowest, eco setting (which caps the speed at 15 miles per hour).

varla eagle one pro electric scooter folded

Portability

If you want one of the fastest electric scooters you can buy for around $2000, one with extra high clearance, dual suspension, and tubeless tires, the Varla Eagle One Pro should be high on your list. If you want a portable electric scooter, it probably won’t rank very highly, though the Eagle One Pro does fold handily with a very secure latch.

Additional Features

The Eagle One Pro’s display is large – 4 inches – very easy to read, even in bright sunlight. The customizable readout provides over ten different metrics. Its lighting system guarantees visibility, with a brake light and a 900-lumen headlamp. Oddly, however, there are no turn signals.

varla eagle one electric scooter

Varla Eagle One Pro Pros

  • Impressive speed and acceleration
  • Excellent handling
  • Long range
  • 11-inch tubeless tires
  • Great on pavement or off-road

Varla Eagle One Pro Cons

  • Short deck
  • Most scooters at this price point have hydraulic brakes
  • No turn signals
